I didn't realize we were only allowed to post if we agreed with someone 100%. Silly me, I thought this was a free public forum.

Why you singling me out?? Multiple members have questioned the logic of these pics (including the guy who runs the site ;) ).

You saw a post you didn't care for (mine) and chose to respond. But you want others to play by different rules??

    Weird logic.

Justin I have taken pictures with animals in my traps, and I have taken the picture with me behind the animal. When would I ever get a chance to take such a picture with a Coyote or Fox? When could I ever be that close.

I don't understand why we film driving an arrow through a deer and watch it die on video, and then pose with the animal, but only after we clean it up.

Nothing we do in hunting is humane, we kill critters. Filming a deer eating acorns and enjoying a peaceful fall day just before we kill it, well a lot of people do not understand that either.

My advice to go on a run with someone who traps, and actually take part in trapping.

You think my post was about your comment on the pictures? You have a wild imagination.

A good thread ruined again by Atlas.....time to clean it up.

To me, and this is just my personal opinion, taking a photo with a live, trapped animal that is frightened not only to be in the trap but to be that close to a human, just doesn't seem right. I know that sounds hypocritical considering the number of animals I've shot and killed, or wounded, but that's how I feel. To me it seems like those photos do nothing more than flaunt the suffering of the animal.

Do you get something more out of a picture with the animal while it's still alive versus when it's been killed? That's my biggest question. If the purpose of the photo is to create a memories and share with people, why can't it just be with the animal after it's been killed? Maybe I just don't get it b/c I don't trap, but as someone looking in from the outside this is how I see it.

Lets assume I shot a deer and the hit was not fatal. Hours later I come upon the animal who is too injured to stand up, and I decide to pose next to it for a photo or two before shooting it again. What would most people say? Somewhat of an apples to oranges comparison as the animal in the trap is not fatally wounded, but you get the general point.

Our goal as sportsmen should be to dispatch the animals we are hunting or trapping as quickly as possible. Any delay in that, even if for just a few minutes to take photos, seems unnecessary to me.

As I said earlier - my dad trapped a lot when I was a kid so I grew up around it. I ran trap lines with him for years. I've seen animals in traps many, many times. Again, just not my cup of tea.

The picture for me was just for memory, again the animal is not yelping in pain. I can take a picture of a dead yote with my 22-250;) The sportsman line well I am not buying it, on one hand we film the most cruesome part of the hunt, some get all excited to see a pass thru shot and blood splatter. I am not saying anyone here enjoys the above, but we all know some do.

I have seen hunters pass up a perfect shot only to wait to get a better camera angle. Sorry we cannot have it both ways.

The last line was my bad, I was thinking of someone else

Pasing up a shot for a better camera angle is really stretching the point here. So long as the hunter is still taking an ethical shot that minimizes suffering, I don't see a problem with that.

I find the in-traop photos a bit unnecessary, but again, to each their own. We'll never see eye to eye on this, and I'm okay with that. Because I'm clearly right, and you're clearly dillusional. :tu:

Well, did we all get that out of our system? I know it was the first set of pics of trapping this year, so I guess I expected it. Now hopefully all the banter is out of the way for the next thread of Greg's photos.

Look, I don't trap. I have no interest to, partially because of some of the concerns brought up in this thread. But, I find Greg's photos of his critters very interesting and I can enjoy them all the same. Yes, it's different than hunting, however a photos of fish on a stringer or line, or deer under a feeder or in a food plot are only slightly different shades of gray.

As for the shots with the kids in it? I wouldn't myself, but I also don't pose with my deer in a truck or hanging in a garage. To each his own.

We all hunt. We all kill. At least in trapping, you can "take the shot back".

Keep posting Greg, I look forward to it.

Wait! I wanna join in! ;)

Personally, I think taking a picture of a live animal in a trap is far less weird than the obsession to film killing an animal and then posting it online or putting it on tv so that other weirdos can view these snuff films over and over and over again.

Fishing is a good point, I mean you snare the fish with a hook, drag it out of water and then put it in a live well to slowly suficate to death, or you take a picture and throw it back in.

Thank god I don't fish anymore!!!!;)

People who bludgeon critters to death with flashlights tend to have a slightly skewed idea of what's weird and what isn't. :busted:

Like a guy who threw dozens of pen-raised pheasants out of a tower to a waiting ring of dudes armed with shotguns? ;)

You are censoring an off topic open chat based on whose opinion you agree with??

    WOW.

I said nothing personal towards another member and broke no rules set forth by the forum.

Are we only allowed to post if we agree 100% with the content of the thread???

This guy gets personally attacked by numerous members for saying he lost a deer on a shot choice he has killed many deer with and no one seemed to have a problem with it.

    http://forums.bowhunting.com/showth...-lost-a-wallhanger...&highlight=high+shoulder

Is Greg off limits for criticism because he's someones buddy or something??

    or

More then likely is it not so much what was said but who said it??

Seriously...............honest questions as I have not been around much this year. Are the rules super different here now and any disagreement will be censored out??

I have no problem following the rules...........as long as I know what they are.

    Thanks :)

Oooohhh ooooo.... Can I play? I'm with Justin.... I find pictures of animals in a trap waiting to be slaughtered in poor taste. Especially with little kiddies in the background. Hell, some of you people say it's fine also gave me hell for posting a picture of a deer with his tongue hung out or the one laying in the back of a pickup. Make up your mind people. We hunt, we kill, we don't harvest crap.... we put blood on the ground and then eat the meat. Life is good. To each his own.

P.S. I ran a trap line all through highschool. It's how I paid for my first bicycle, shotgun and other things. We did it the real cruel way.... we set drown sets for mink and muskrats. LOL That was back in the day of $4.50 rats and $20 mink
