He almost made 30 lbs, Matt... My taxi was thinking he may have actually gone a bit over that until we threw him on his scales. He did say he was one of the largest bobcats that had come into his place, and suggested I mount him because he said I would never get a bigger one from this area. I just can't afford to keep mounting stuff at this stage of the game; it seems as if everything I trap is special in some way this year, LOL! I skinned him out yesterday, leaving his paws on and claws intact with his supervision. He's going to let me tan him myself, and we decided to put a head in it and I'm going to make a big rug out of him, probably to hang on one of my walls.
A rug like that might be even cooler than a full mount, considering you already have a mount. I'd love to see that once you get it done!
Not one bit, focnr! And to really answer your question, I'll refer you to another of my trapping threads where I and other long-time trappers have addressed some of the same concerns you alluded to. Many people who have no experience around modern-day traps have the same questions, as you'll see starting with post # 24. Following that you'll see the answer(s) to your question(s). http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=10539&page=2 Thanks for allowing me to link to that since the discussion had already transpired there. Thanks for your interest in trapping!
