    Duke, I'm not picking on you..because many including myself, have made this statement.

    When so many "prize" the 4.5 year old buck, this statement is hilarious, that means even us "experts" miss by +/- 25% on a 4 year old. Whats a mature female? 18 (by law) miss that by -25% and your talking a 13.5 year old. I realize this is apples to oranges. But if you are going to put a deer on a pedastel based on, an age. it sounds like if "we" want to shoot only 3.5's and above that we should only shoot those we feel are 4.5 and 5.5 to allow for the error factor.

    Ive never had a deer officially aged,

    If i ever score on a mature whitetail i would like to have it looked at though

    I think you misunderstood my statement.

    I mean that I'm off on age guesses a likely 1 out of 4 times.. not that I'm off by age of 25%.

    Not that it matters anyway.. maybe I am off much more. Who knows. I just go by the book.. which changes daily anyway.
