How do you normally setup? Both people in a blind? Just the cameraman in a blind? This is my first year turkey hunting and I'm going to film myself and my dad. He likes to move around but I'm thinking of setting up in a blind somehow. We will be gun hunting. Just looking for tips to maximize my chances of not being seen.

    Thanks

Gun Hunting- You can get away with concealing both hunter and camera man with out blinds pretty easily! and is the only way to go!
Bow hunting- Most of our filming is out of blinds both cameraman and hunter in same blind..this is easiest for archery but if youd like a challenge sometimes you can get away with the old mohican sneak with bow in hand along with a cameraman tagging along:)

For run n' gun hunting.. my two older brothers will do their thing and set up so Isaac (2nd Oldest) will film Caleb (Oldest) in front of him and watch the turkeys come in or whatever is happening. I usually meander off about 20 yards or so in case of escape birds. Well.. last year I was the only one to kill a bird;)

We've killed birds on camera using a blind and using run and gun style! The couple we killed from the blind we had both the shooter and cameraman set up in the blind. When runnin and gunnin the cameraman/caller was set up about 10-15 yards behind the shooter. If you're doing it that way, make sure to try and hide the camera as well as possible! Good luck! Post a video if you kill one!

Very good input by the others. I'll be filming and using the bow out of a blind again this Spring. It just works the best with concealing the movement of bowhunting and filming for turkeys. If you haven't seen them yet, check out episodes 2 & 3 from last season's Bowhunt or Die shows. You'll see what some of us on the BH.com staff are doing. Good luck this Spring!

I use a blindwhen filmin bow hunts. I learned last year to open the windows with tie wraps to cut down on the blind spots. I dont have a double bull so haveing all the smaller windows made alot of blind spots. I tied the wide strips down to make one big window out of the smaller front windows. Cut down on moving the cammera, when I was by myself. Also narrow down on your tripod base so it doesnt take as big of a foot print. Pm me if you have any questions beyond that.
