If you shoot Rage 2 blade, have you shot deer quartering away?? What was the result? what is your set up? Bow poundage? KE? Speed? arrow weight?
I did take a slight quartering to shot last year. Entered the largest area of shoulder muscle and exited directly behind the other shoulder. I got a pass through on the shot. 2008 BowTech Allegiance 60# 375 grain arrows 294 fps 72 ft/lb. KE
Jeff Im currently shooting, according to the KE calculator, 60.8 lbs of KE . I did kill deer with this set up ( 2 blade rage) last year, but I have never shot a deer with one quartering away. Im trying to see if Im setting myself up for a disaster or am i ok with the 60 lbs of KE for these heads...according to Rage I am..
As long as that bottom line is you sig true you will be good to go. But if you hit the offside shoulder blade you may run into trouble.
2 slightly quartering away shots...at the time I was shooting a switchback X/T at 60lbs, 270+ fps, both complete pass thru's. One doe (approx 100 lbs.) and 1 buck (approx 185) lbs. Both shots went through both lungs and the deer were dead within 60 yards. I think the key would be yardage, the doe was inside 20 yards, and the buck was 23 yards on the dot. I now shoot a guardian at 70lbs, a little over 300 fps and would not hesitate to take that shot at 40...I do think GMMAT is right about the 1.5" cut. When I use the last (4) 2" heads I am going to the 1.5"
