    Barbed broadheads are illegal for hunting big game. A barbed broadhead is one in which the angle formed between the trailing or rear edge of any blade and the shaft is less than 90 degrees. Broadhead examples on the right compare one that is barbed to three that are legal. Broadheads with retractable blades are legal. Broadheads with mechanical blades are legal if the blades DO NOT form a barb or hook when the arrow is pulled from the flesh of a deer or bear.

    I'm pretty sure it means the rear edge of the blade; as in the non edged part. If they meant to measure where you're indicating then rage broadheads would be illegal. But that is the exact broadhead they picture as an example of a legal mechanical!

    Three Blade Rages are in fact illegal, most decent sporting good stores in NY will have signs to that effect.

    I personally know one Encon officer in NY that will write a ticket for a Kill Zone and the larger two blade rages that form basically the same angle as the kill zone. We laugh about( he is Lt, i know him for about 15 years, and i tuned every bow he ever owned) i tell him I will argue with him in court.

    We have discussed this at length and he was clear about it. the law is not written in the handbook which is only given a courtesy to lic holders.

    Here is the law: Article 11, title 9, secs 6 and 8

    (6) with an arrow or bolt with an arrowhead that measures less than
    seven-eighths of an inch at its widest point or that has fewer than two
    sharp cutting edges;

    (8) with an arrow with a barbed broadhead arrowhead;

    I'm not talking about the three blade. The picture clearly shows a 2 blade that operates exactly the same as the killzone as a legal mechanical.

    It really doesn't matter. Aside from your friend every other game warden would call the killzones legal blades on what you posted. End of story.

    Thats a negative. The truth is they don't really give a ****, beacause its a bull **** law. but you better believe that if they getting you for something else, they will add that to the ticket stack.

    Bring some Kill zones to NY, I have plenty of land for you to hunt on. In fact you'd have the place to yourself. i think you'd be fine.....maybe.

    I can guess why too....you won't have that issue with a Helix
