Whether it be the NFL or College....anyone else miss the days when defense was a bigger part of the game? 89 points have been score in the Colts/Chiefs game

Agree. It's like watching a pitchers duel. Defense is only good if your team is playing. If I don't have a dog in the race give me offense.

To the defense's defense they don't stand much of a chance with today's rule book.

So you guys would rather watch a 45-41 game than say 27-24?

I guess I just don't see how touchdowns are very exciting to watch when both teams are scoring so much

Some of the recent college bowls were like watching flag football

Would you rather take the 3 point line and dunks back out of basketball and move the fences to 600' with rags as balls in baseball? No..

I didn't mention changing any rules in any sport so have no clue what you are talking about?

I'm just saying most people like the offensive scoring side of each sport. Not saying you were meaning to change anything.

I don't like having the rules rigged so offenses score 40+ points with regularity. That ain't football. Americans like statistics......the NFL understands stats are sexy so they allow the offenses to dictate most of the rule changes. It is crap.

Agreed, fantasy football is huge and increases interest in the games.

I've never played nor do I care about fantasy football but do they have any defensive categories?

Not sure T, I have never played. When I played we loved to make offenses miserable. :) My senior year in highschool we held the entire 8 team district scoreless. And my 4th year in college we finished 2nd in the nation in total defense. Lots of miserable offensive players and coaches...I loved it.

I like a good defense... but agree with the sentiment that low scoring games without your team involved are uninteresting...

The bowl games last night and the Colts comeback today were all amazing games to watch and I could not care less about any of the teams involved.

I'm probably in the minority but the 24 second shot clock is too short in the nba, for me.

Not saying there shouldn't be a shot clock but 24 is too short.

They have time to setup 1 play and if it breaks down, it is one on one basketball and I prefer to see a team play like a well oiled machine than 1 person taking on another. I might start watching again if they changed it to 35 seconds like the college game.

And I love a pitcher's dual, atleast the game doesn't last 5 hours.

Shot clock is a fine line. 35 is way too long but 24 may be a tad short. I'd take the NBA clock over the current NCAA model though. 30 would be perfect though.

I like the 35 in college. They can actually run 2 or 3 plays. It also forces teams to play defense, ,especially if you run into a team that likes to stall.

There really needs to be a clock in high school. Henderson had a coach that would stall most of the game if he had a lead. Glad he's gone.

between the new rules and passing ability of most teams the defense does the best it can. football is a much faster game nowadays, but i feel its for the better.

35 is just too slow IMO. Run into offenses like Wisconsin. Boring basketball.

Agreed 10000% on HS ball though. Unreal they haven't adopted a shot clock yet. Basketball should be more standardized across the levels IMO. Standard shot clock, foul count, quarters vs halves, etc.

As for football though, give me Johnny Football any day of the week! aha

35 second shot clock is a great equalizer, like the 3pt line. It creates parody and the team with the best players isn't necessarily going to win.

I agree with OP... These younger folks are all for points points points..... IMHO the records these QB's are putting up are worthless.... Any QB can throw for 3000+ yds and still suck... Spread out offenses and score... And DB's have no chance with all the penalties being called for holding... Pass interference etc....

Miss the days of the NFC Defenses of old.... Giants, Eagles,Bears etc....

I would much rather watch a 21-17 Defensive game then watch a NBA basketball game unfold on the football field... All offense and no defense is boring...

    Just my opinion though

I hated it when we would get a lead and our coach would make us just hold the ball. HATED IT. Such a b**** move.
