I live in southern Illinois, what will be the best food plots for me besides corn and beans... I am looking for something to plant to hunt over early and also something to plant to hunt over late... I am going to plant some turnips for sure and I already have some clover planted... What else can i get..

    Thanks

Clover is a good plot for early activity. Turnips and buckoats make for a good late season plot. I like to mix them in the same plot being careful not to get the turnips too thick. I have planted them as late as the first of September with good luck providing there is plenty of moisture. Mid August is better. I am in southern Iowa so we would have similar weather. Also, you dont want to continue to put turnips on the same plot year after year or they can get a blight. A couple of years and then rotate for a couple of years. Good luck.
