I am sure this has been a discussion before but here we go. Has anyone noticed black bears paying special attention to any food plot plants in particular? Trying to get some bears on camera on this new property but we can't put out any minerals or edible attractants. Have I heard oats or chicory work though?
I have bears in my clover plots every hunting season. They're usually there early-November for a few days. Almost always at night. It seems like you would have to hunt a ways off the cloverplot on a trail so you can catch them coming to it rather than waiting for them to show up in daylight. Also, they eat a lot of oats in the agricultural fields around here, but I've never planted them for a foodplot. Good luck!
I've seen bears do damage to oat fields on TV in Canada in years past. I would also think they'd favor clover.
This isn't a good plot suggestion but could you use a"bear bomb"? I have used the cake icing aerosol with great success! Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Bears just about eat everything. Grow dandelions.. they love them. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Yeah, I have tried them but I want something that I don't have to be there for. I just want to see what I can get on camera. I may set one off right before I leave though.
