Checked the food plots today, and they are really liking this weather. It's amazing how much things grow in a week. The deer have found them too, been munching pretty good in some spots. I hope they leave some for fall.

    Clover.

Prolly put one out this week. Gonna run up there and do some mowing after work, maybe tomorrow.

Looks great...you know, if the deer eat it all before fall just spray some of this crap around the day of the hunt and call it a day :)

I saw Hank Parker on a show one time. He hunted 20 something days in Kansas spreading a pick up load of that stuff around before he killed a buck.:bash:

    Yeah, that stuff works great.

I grew up watching Hank...I used to watch his show then drive off to fish like a pro. :) I couldn't imagine walking around shooting pink/purple kool-aid all over the plants and bushes before I set up to hunt..LOL. Sorry to hijack your thread....the food plots look great! I ever purchase or lease my own land before I hit the dirt I will be sure to ask for your advice on food plots :)

    Looks great John.

If you have any room for an extra fall plot, you should really try some Tecomate Ultra Forage. It's one of my new favorite brassicas, perfect from mid Oct to end of Nov. I had great luck with it last year.

I haven't gotten much work done this year yet at my place, but my clover and chicory from last year is knee high and my dad is going to give it the first mowing of the season sometime this week.

I plan to head down for fathers day weekend soon to get the work going on the rest of it. After spreading about 10 tons (literally) of lime over the last few years, I think I can finally skip a year or two, but I need to start spraying and getting things ready to disc by mid July. I'll probably seed everything first week in August again and will be adding more perennials so that future years will be a bit less work.

There is a good layer of topsoil, buy if you get down too deep you run into a light clay.

Nice they look alot better than mine do right know. The weather stinks this year. Plenty of rain but it's still cold out.

    Good job.

    Master Baiters!

    LMAO.

    John, it's looking fantastic.

I checked on mine today. The clovers are popping up, very small but it's new. The soybean, Biologic, Red Zone is all popping through nicely as well. I didn't have a camera with me as I figured they'd be small but a couple weeks I'll get some pics. It's much, much larger this year.
