I have replanted sunflowers twice this year for dove hunting. Last year I replanted once. The sunflowers grew great last year and served two purposes; good amount of deer photos and two weekends of friends and family shooting doves. I have found the sunflowers hate water. The soil is good it just floods maybe once or twice a year. Any other plants that would tolerate a flood more than sunflowers? Maybe something deer and doves both like? The pic below is one of the areas. Thanks.

A buck and bird blend with a mix like this...
    Black sunflowers
    dwarf sorghum
    buckwheat
    browntop millet
    grain sorghum
    cowpeas
and some berseem or crimson clover if one wants to build up the soil as well...

What would be the best with a potential flood or 2? Would any of this tend to survive it better?

We shall see, thats what i planted yesterday in an area thats been flooded twice this year. The biggest challenges will be weeds and soil compaction, lack of oxygen, once things dry out. Typically sorghums hate water but i put some out there because they will tolerate the heat and since i planted in July, that would at least get me ground cover. The berseem clover really tolerates water well, plus i always want to be fixating nitrogen.

My buckwheat put in wet areas 1 month ago is now GONE....the deer last week destroyed my swiss chard, then they moved onto the Buckwheat, I predict that they will hit my 4 bean mix next
