i am buying a house on 13 acres should be closing mid march. the property has 3 crab apple trees towards the front end in a 1/2 acre clearing. was thinking about planting clover all around the trees? also behind the house is a 2 acre clearing. was thinking about taking an acre of that and planting something else since it would be in the leech field and should grow fairly well there? just want to add more attractant to my property to draw the deer. property currently has crab apple, black wallnut, white oak, honey suckle, blue and blackerry. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Clover around the apple trees is something a lot of guys like to do...just be careful when prepping around the trees to not disc, till or dig into any roots...honestly around the drip line and in a lot of guys like to spray kill and hand rake and spread seed, let grow what will but better to not have clover right up to a healthy tree than do something to the roots. Some have no problem with roots and can plant right up to them, check out your trees' root structure before proceeding.

Got an aerial of your property for better thoughts on layout of the field you are discussing?
