I have been shooting bows for as long as i can remember but just picked up the hunting end of it 2 years ago. i have only hunted public land in those two years and taken deer both years but this year i have gotten permission to hunt on a friends farm. if anybody has a recommendation for a good trail camera that wont cost me over $250 im all ears. hope to hear from ya'll

+1 for the Bushnell. I had a Stealth Cam and the battery life wasn't good nor was the trigger speed. The Bushnell has up to a 1 yr battery life on 8 aa batteries and has great trigger speeds.

I recently purchased a HCO Scout Guard SG560 trail cam and totally love it. I owned a wild game before it and was not satisfied with the camera performance.

The Scout Guard is an incredible camera and is loaded with customizable features. Its really small as well (size of your hand) and easy to use.

Welcome neighbor. I've been hearing good comments about the new Truth Cam's by Primos. You'll see some have posted some photos and they look really good, long battery life and they start around a $100.

Welcome aboard...one question though. Is there a Bloomington Abnormal? I was in Berwin once (as my Greater Chicagoland area wife puts it). Those folks were strangely different. I was also in Petersburg and Springfield. The people there seemed normal. If you're anything like them, You'll be "A-ok" in my book!

Word has it there's a deer behind every tree in Illinois. Why do you need a stinkin camera? LOL.....

Man if i had a dime for every time i heard a joke about "Normal Illinois" i wouldn't ever have to work again. We all think we are "Normal" around here but that's open to interpretation. As for the deer thing....they are "behind" :poke:the tree so i need that camera to see them. they tend to run off before i can get around the tree to see them lol

The Tasco 5.0, takes great pix, only uses 4aa batteries and I haven't had to change any batteries in mine all summer.. Triggers have been good day and night.. here are some sample pix below.. 99.00 camera, I have not ran them in the cold weather, that test is still to come... So far though I love em... very compact easy to hang and set up!.. just like the little Bushnell compact, I have one of those too, but see NO difference and the bushnell takes twice as many AA batteries.

Good luck this season, its an addiction!

    DFA,

    Welcome!

I lived in B-N for a few years while I attended ISU. I live about 45 minutes S (on 74) of you.

I don't use trail cams so I can't help you there but if you ever need any help following a blood trail or whatever let me know.

    Best of luck this season.

    C
