Welcome to the forum. I wont be any help to your questions but wanted to at least welcome you here. There is a lot of very knowledgeable people on here who will be able to assist you. Good luck on your first year hunting.
Welcome to the site. While I am not from the Mass. or New England I do enjoy there Chowders and a cold Sam Adams.. I do.
i'm a new brunswick hunter, no pro, but i do have my guide licence. my hunting camp is in st.goerge and i live on a canadian island that borders with lubec maine. most of my freinds are americans (hence the guide licence) any questions just shoot!
wow thats good to know i might be lettin all the horses out of the stable but was interested in that area cause i have always heard about boston area people going up there to get a trophy buck not to mention its real nice country up there
there is dfenitely some big ones roaming the woods, also they are bigger animals then most parts of the states, 300lbs + is not unheard of. i've shot 1 8 point that was 219lbs feild dressed. the winters play a major role in deer numbers each fall here. the winter of 08/09 was very harsh and hard on deer numbers, this winter was a good winter but it takes 2 good winters in a row before we notice the deer numbers rebound. most of nb is leased by irving and that provides tons of back raod access to clear cuts and remote logging roads. bear numbers are the best in n.b. compared to all of canada and zone 20 where my camp is is the best in n.b. moose are also very plentiful here. public land holds it's own challenges as well, you can plan all pre season, and other hunters/pressure ect can change the whole game as soon as the season starts. that's what got my interest in bow hunting it starts 3 weeks early and pressure is low.
go to acmemapper2.0.com and check out. N 45.29128 W 66.73323 (trail cams) and N 45.24900 W 66.77726 (camp) that will give you a feel for the terrain and you'll see why "ridge bucks" are bigger.
ditto... Last year was my first year deer hunting, and hunting with a bow...so can tell you I learned a lot on here. Also met and hunted with one member already and plan on more this year so take advantage of the folks on the list, all have been great to me. Good luck Sean
