i decided to try some aluminums since they are super cheap and straight. i tried some xx75 camo hunters by easton in 2317's but were very heavy at 13.3 gpi. i went with 2315's at 11.7gpi. they shot great. i use 4" feathers with a right helical. they were quiet compared to my goldtips with the same feather set up. i figured it was because of the shaft being about 90 grains heavier then the goldtips. well, i just bought a set of fmj's. they are a total weight of 450grains, and they are just as noisy as my goldtips. my 2315's were a total weight of 475 grains. why were the fat aluminums so much quiter? the fmj's only shoot about 10-12 fps faster. do the feathers make less noise because they are not fletched so close together on the shaft on my 2315's. im trying to figure this one out.
