Looking at going back to the FMJs this year.

I've heard of people trying different inserts rather than the HIT inserts. The idea of having protection on the tip to prevent mushrooming is nice. Just wondering if any of you have tried other inserts or do you prefer the HIT?

My only problem with the HIT insert is installing them. There just seems to be one or two that don't stay put. With the smaller diameter the only option is half outserts like on the Black Eagle Rampages. I like those because they are steel and so far have not had any issue with them sticking in targets. They are 47 grains so gives my short draw length a little weight too.

FMJ is a great arrow though.

The broadhead adaptor ring, BAR, is used the protect the end of the shaft.
What broadhead are you shooting? I had issues with SlickTrick ViperTricks catching enough threads in the HIT.

So far I've read that the gold tip kinetic inserts will fit in the 5mm. There's also some other outserts that fit.
