I have been tying a fly or two here and there in anticipation for the upcoming streamer season. Usually March-May offers some of the best streamer fishing of the year for big trout. I like to throw big streamers. Yes its true big fish like big meals, but more importantly, I fish big flies to avoid small fish. Its good filler until muskie season opens.

    A sampling...

Anyone know if Breckenridge bourbon is any good? It was a gift. They are some decent perks working for a fly shop.

Awesome ties man. Another thing on the long list that I thought would be cool to do, but probably don't have the patience for.

Where's the Musky flies? Hopefully I can throw a couple of yours this summer on the river.

I haven't tied any recently, but I will get on that soon enough. I have a pile of them from last season, but you know my attention span. I always have to fish something new.

Here are a few I have pics of from last year...

Do you have any roosters? Neck hackles are very hard to come by these days, thanks to this...

The second photo is supposedly a man.

    I'm not so sure.

Hey just a suggestion, if you ever need some deer hair for flies, just ask your MOM!

The perch flavored ones work stellar at camp in Ontario for pike. I also like to throw something with a lot of white on it so its visible to in the stained water. Always a blast watching the fly suddenly disappear as if it went into a cave.

    Man, I'm sick of winter.

They are pretty. Do you give them cute names?

On a serious note, this guy has a bum leg but so far he is hanging in there. If we have to part ways with him, I'll keep you in mind.

That would be fantastic, Bruce. If I lived closer, I would break his leg myself.

As an norwegian fly-tyer and flyfisher, it is funny to see what flies that works on big trout in your part of the world. Surely would get some funny looks if I tied one of these on my tip next troutfishingtrip, as flies like this is more common in saltwater here. I rarely go bigger than a size 10 on my troutflies, but maybe thats the reason why my biggest trout only was 1kg ;) Maybe it`s time to try something new this season, and throw out a big one... ;-)

Really nice looking flies, keep up the good work!

Thanks, CC. Yeah the big trout around here like big meals, but the main reason we fish big is to avoid smaller fish. The average brown trout here is 8-10 inches. The bigger trout (over 24 inches) are few and far between. We don't want to miss the chance at a big fish because a small one already took the fly. Also, to be a good streamer fisherman here, you need to be good at catching big trout when they really aren't in the mood to feed. The bigger flies fished to act like they are wounded seems to improve the odds.

Big trout can be caught on small flies here, but so can little fish.
