    Hey Guys,

Just wanted to drop in and share my latest film work. This is a fly fishing film that a friend of mine and I have been working towards for a little over a year now, and we were finally able to link up a couple days over the past week to to shoot it. Below is the result! As always, I'd really appreciate any feedback. Good or bad, you won't hurt my feelings. I hope you enjoy it!

I liked it, Cody. I think if you made a version cut in half, with the same music, it would feel more powerful. I like short films like this with just music. Lets the imagination run.

Thanks Matt! I was hoping you'd see this and chime in.

When you say cutting it in half, do you mean do without the downtown / preparation / with the wife shots? It was something I really thought of, but I thought telling that part of the story would help build to the actual fly fishing. Some have said that the film is too slow for too long, and that they'd rather just see fishing footage.

I enjoyed watching your video and thought it was well presented. I use to have the quote at the end hanging on my office wall.

You've got talent. VERY well done.

    As for my opinion:
As mentioned above I'd leave out the fluff of sitting on a park bench and loitering around like he just lost his job. I never care for to much footage of the people wanting to see themselves on film but I'd like to see the guys hustling at work just to finish up and get home to a loving wife and tying some fly's for the next day. I'm also not a big fan of people not wanting to crack a smile. To many "want a be" toughs today. IMO Beautiful wife, day off to fly fish in Gods Creations, that also puts a smile on my face.

If you ever go big time I've got some ideas for some great non-fiction movies. Keep it up, I can tell you put your heart and time into it.

Not necessarily. I think you could still include some of that, but build the progression of the film a little quicker through the middle. Its definitely a well done piece as is. My thought was by shortening the story a little, it really allows the mind to wander after the film, instead of during it. It becomes a more powerful piece. Does that make sense?

This may not be your intention for the film though. Just offering a little feedback.

Well done! Your shots seem to be getting steadier with each film, and your lighting on this was great!

I would only echo Matt's thoughts simply because I did feel the middle was a little too prolonged (I feel bad evening giving a recommendation since I can't produce this level of video).

When someone is looking for feedback, there is usually a reason. I guess for me I would want to know your intentions of this film? The perspective would dictate the validity. I liked it.

Absolutely that makes sense, and it's very helpful. It's the type of feedback and criticism that I can take and apply to future films.

We accomplished our goal with the film, but that doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't be better. I'm still figuring this stuff out, so it's advice like yours Matt those goes along way. Greatly appreciated!

    Thanks man!

We got lucky with our lighting for this film. We couldn't have asked for anything better as far as natural light goes.

I found it absolutely awesome Cody. well done. If you'd ever like to take a road trip out here after deer season is over to get some cool falconry action, just let me know. I'd die to get some good footage like this.

Amazing footage, you have amazing talent. I love watching your footage, and would be ecstatic if I ever had half the skill you do!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, glad you all enjoyed it!

Dave - with the right cameras (POV) and a little luck a falconry film would be a blast to shoot!

You created some legitimately beautiful shots, but as some have said, I feel as you might have lingered on some of the lesser shots a bit too long.
