Unlike most college students who go to Mexico and get trashed for a week strait, me and my best friend decided to spend our spring break getting some fresh mountain air while we explored/fished the Rio Grande in Northern New Mexico. If you clicked for fish pictures you are out of luck. The fishing was well.......horrible. But no matter, we still had an excellent time no doubt.

I put up a few of many photos we took. Enjoy.

We set off down the very boring and bland I-40

It was a long drive. You gotta stay awake somehow :d

Once we got into the mountains, the scenery got better.

When we arrived, this was waiting on us.

Me and my main compadre, descending into the gorge.

We made the hike down and set up camp for Day 1. Right on the Rio.

This place had some great scenery.

We didn't see any elk, but there was elk sign everywhere  :deer:

On Day 2 we stumbled upon these shelters. So we took advantage and set up camp.

    Me, failing to catch fish.

A hearty meal of jumbolya. Dubbya, I support your local economy :usa:

JZ, Here's one for the BH.com calender :tu:

We may not have killed the trout, but it was still an awesome time and a great place to kick up the moccasins and relax.

I miss mountains. THey made me happy. Trout too. THey made me happy. i can still remember the countless hours we took emptying our cooler, just to have a place to put the fish... Many a cans have died in my hands. Just so the fish could be cold.

Awesome pictures! I really like the one with you casting in it. Great shot. How is your casting coming along, btw? I know you just recently got into this hobby...I think. I should have done something like that on my spring break.

Caleb, I would sure like to go to the GTG. If I can swing it, I'll be there. You?

Matt, my casting is coming along, I guess. I have no problem getting the fly where I want it, but my technique does lack a little finnese (if that makes sense).

I was thinking about hitting up the GTG and the Tuff Bow this year. But with an 18 years olds budget, i dont now if i can pull it all off. Im going to PA for trout fishing next month, and Florida with the girlfriend in May. Then im thinking its going to be only the GTG. So, as of now, im planning on going.
