Hey fellas, newb here with yet another newb question or solicit your advice...

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to lease land instead of hunting the managed areas here in florida. My conundrum is that I have never hunted before and really don't know what to look for in leasing land. I'm afraid to drop $1200 bucks or so and there won't be a lot of deer, turkey and hogs to hunt.

I'm not apposed to FWCs managed areas, I think my son and I will have a better time (and possibly luck) learning the ropes if we had our own plot of land to hunt.

So what do you guys recommend? Any tips for shopping for a hunt club or leasing land?

    Thanks!

I live in Tampa. I'll do both for sure. But is it worth leasing land for a novice hunter? I would think it is but I truly don't know what to expect.

It's a cool option to have your property/lease that you can hunt or scout any day year round and yes, some leases may be great and some not but you won't know until you try it. I've had some dud hunting leases and some great ones but their all great to set up to hunt and learn from each year. Each lease will have other hunter to learn from and help you figure out the land.

    Enjoy the hunt:)
