Ok, I'm shooting a 100gr fixed three blade Thunderhead on a Beeman ICS 340 arrow. My sight is pretty spot on out to 40 yards or so. When I switch to a field point my arrows drop an inch at 20yards and about 2-3 inches farther out. How can a broadhead fly like a field point ? Does this term only apply to mechanicals ? Am I doing something wrong ? It seems like a blade gives an arrow a bit of lift like a plane wing and the field point is more bullet shaped. Someone clue me in on what's up
my thunderheads fly like a field point. I do spin them and make sure the broadhead is aligned and rotating perfectly. your bow maybe just out of tune. I would paper tune it, then see if it makes a differnce. last year my broadheads weren't hitting right. they were a little low. shot the bow with field tip on through paper and it wasn't tuned. So I paper tuned and broadheads flew like a dream afterwards!
This has everything to do with tuning your rest... It's kind of difficult to exlain, but if your broadheads are hitting high of your field points, you need to lower the rest. I'll see if I can find the Easton Tuning Guide to help you understand. Okay, here it is... Scroll to broadhead tuning. *Easton Tuning Guide
