That could really happen. True story- when I was a kid in the 80s, my dad had a little digital clock stuck to the dashboard of his car. Had a little cut out that displayed the time that looked kind of like a casio watch.

One day he comes out of the store to find the car full of smoke- the headboard which was foam of some sort had started to burn from the sun hitting that little clock and reflecting up into the headboard at just the right/wrong focal point. Perfect little rectangle burned out of the foam.
