That brings back an old memory of the first time I met the man that used to be my father in law. Now I had grown up in the sticks 7 miles from where they lived but I'd been in the Navy for four years at that point and had lost most of my redneck/southern/country lingo. Still, the first two words I heard come out of his mouth completely stumped me because I'd never heard them before. He said "Y'uns et?" What I heard was "yunzette". One unrecognizable word posed as a question. I stood there for about five seconds with a stupid look on my face as my brain raced to translate what I'd just heard. I realized fairly quickly that I had just been asked if we had eaten yet. I'll never forget that as long as I live.
