Step 1 - sink the 8' piece of 4" OD schedule 10 pipe 3' in the ground. For extra stability, anchor with concrete.

Kinda like one of the 4 corner posts they had to remove when I had my privacy fence installed.

They fought this one for 2 1/2 hours. I'm sure neighbors 3 blocks away could hear the older guys displeasure

That's what I did with the rest of them, but when I got the quote the guy said it would include pulling the 4 corner posts so I left them for them.

I was quite impressed with it and only when they went to lunch did I dare sneak out to take a pic. I understood what all the yelling was about at that point

Must have done by the same guy that did my clothesline posts 80 years ago. Clothes must have been super heavy back in the day..

Neighbors learned all kinds of new words that day bc when I'm really pissed I go to cussing in German.

The wife wanted me to take the clothes line down. I cut off the posts with a saw all and filled in the tube.

She asked why I didn't pull the post and concrete. I will show her the pics as proof why "I did it the lazy way"

All 4 corner posts were like that, the two front ones came out easy. The one pictured was next to a telephone pole. They had a come along on the telephone pole wrapped around it then had a flat bed with a winch hooked to it and it still took 2 1/2 hours. The other one took a couple hours as well.

They would have taken 2 feet of my yard away without removing them. I almost volunteered to do it, somehow luck went my way. The owner did the quote and he said no problem.

Schedule 10 is super thin walled. Most heavy duty pipe posts are schedule 80 or better.......... concrete filled would definitely work.

However, I think the guy was referring to the strength of the feeder itself.

And this is why you don't call an IT guy to do plumbing (or construction).
    Thanks for the correction. :tu:

Bear be nimble, bear be quick
Bear got stuck on bird feeder stick
    Bird feeder stick be strong
    Or bear be gone
Now he waits to be rescued by Mom

    Mom shows up
    Bear comes down
Mom chases bear into next town
Scared of Mom, Bear hides in big tent
Bear climbs big ball, up up he went
Mom took off, Bear can't get down
    Now he's circus clown

I meant the feeder itself, I use a 4x4 post with concrete, cover the post with smooth metal ductwork so nothing can climb it.

I'd love to see one of those squirrel spinner boots feeders scaled for bears and raccoons...

    Ya know one of these
