This reminds me of a couple years back I was out fishing on the Gulf Stream, 50 miles offshore, and I trolled past a couple guys on a beat up old pontoon boat. My initial thoughts were that they had got stranded and had drifted all the way out there and didn’t have a radio to call for help. I thought I was about to have to call the coast guard and save their lives but as I got closer I realized that they had that thing outfitted with downriggers, outriggers, a nice gps/sonar, and they were actually trolling under power with lines in the water. To this day I’m still split 50/50 as to whether they were suicidal or just that damn good at fishing that taking a party barge offshore was no big deal. It was a fairly calm day but that can change in a heartbeat, one good summer storm pops up and you’ve got 6’ waves in a matter of minutes.
Either way they definitely had balls of steel (and hopefully an EPIRB)
