    A $200 1989 Honda XR250R taught me just about everything I know about small engines. Took me almost a year of work, a whole lot of grass cutting cash, and probably a quarter million unsuccessful kick starts before I even got a little sputter out of that thing (I was in middle school at the time and that was the late 90’s before there were YouTube videos and Internet forums so I had to pretty much figure it out on my own) It was completely seized when I got it and pretty much anything in that motor that could've broken was; piston cracked, cylinder scored all to hell, spun bearing, bent connecting rod, no carburetor whatsoever, head gasket blown. I replaced a whole lot of other stuff too but in hindsight a lot of that probably wasn’t even broken.

    Runs like a champ now though.

    I have literally been preaching that almost since I graduated college.

    I picked my college major because the only math class I had to take was called 'Consumer Math', which I took and barely passed. While the concepts didn't take for years due to youthful indiscretion and impulsiveness, it to this day is the only time I have ever been officially exposed to actual useful math concepts beyond simple arithmetic- that is to say compound interest, debt, budgeting...
    (OK, admittedly simple geometry can be pretty useful. But not necessarily needed.)

    It's so goddamn simple and beneficial, that it's obvious the fact that They don't teach it in public schools is all the evidence you will ever need that They want your kids to be slaves to debt.

    I enjoyed math and took every course they had in HS and tested out of it in college.

    Math came in very handy for almost everything I have done. Calculating gear ratios, tire sizes, boat propeller pitches, engine building spec's and construction and electrician calculations ..... especially electrician calc's.

    I am a math guy. It is very straight forward ..... you are either right or you are wrong. There is only one right answer.
