I purchased a new g5 Quest Torrent this spring, and I am trying to determine if I am having a problem or not.

When I nock an arrow, the fletching just touches and I mean just ever so slightly, but you can tell there is miniscule contact. When I fire the bow, I do not see any obvious sign that the fletching actually does hit the cable when fired.
I would assume that damage to the cable would soon become obvious if it hit after a while, but there is no visual indication it actually does hit the cable. No marks, or damage. So in your opinion is this anything to worry about or not? I was told the I-glide will flex back some when fired creating a bit of clearance, is this true?

Is there a standard or guide on how close or not the fletching is supposed to come to the cable?

    Thanks

    Rocky Hill

This may seem like a dumb question but, did you try to rotate the nock just a little to see if contact can be eliminated.

Of course I did. That guarantees there isn't a problem, I am wondering if it is common thing or is this a problem with the fletching just ever so slightly touching the cable. When I say slightly I mean just touches, this is at rest. there is no visual indication of hitting the cable when fired.

So it is impossible to adjust the nock so there is not contact? I would want contact eliminated might not make contact when you target shoot but any torque in a treestand or awkward shooting angle could lead to contact when the shot matters. I would say contact is worse than the cock vane not being exactly on top.

I'm not exactly sure what your response is trying to tell me. YES I can eliminate this issue completely by turning the cock vane! I'm just wondering if this is a common thing, or if there is something out of kilter with my bow.

I would say any kind of contact would be "uncommon". Have it checked at a shop and see what they say. That would bother the Hell out of me, regardless of how well it shoots.

Whats wrong with turning the nock to get clearance? My cock vane is pointing at 10:00. If it doesn't hit, who cares where it's pointing.

I had the same issue, and when I was talking with my bow man he instructed me to just twist the nock slightly. No contact, No problems.

I am having it looked at on Sunday. Turning the nock is no problem, bow shoots fine, and like I said, it only touches at rest, and there is no indication that it hits when fired. I'm just trying to find out if this touching at rest is a normal thing or not. is this common with this bow, or is it set up wrong.

I guess I will find out on sunday.

I have a G5 Quest Rogue with same low cable clearance. I turn my nock to cock vane out and have paper tuned to a perfect bullet hole. I have no issues with it but to my knowledge with the Quest bows the low clearance is normal.

Well, they checked out the bow, reset my whisker biscuit, paper tuned it, and concluded that everything was set up properly, and nothing was out of place. The bow just has close clearance, and just turned the nock ever so slightly and said everything was fine.
So I guess I was worried about nothing.
