So i have a Mathews helim it was set at 70#, I just got it lowered to 60# and my first few shots the fletching was hitting my qad drop away. Is it because of the poundage change? Do I need to go get the string on my drop away adjusted?
I have a qad rest on my zxt that's set at 60# and don't have that problem so wouldn't think it'd be the lower poundage. May need the string adjusted. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
I agree, don't think lower poundage is problem. I would look at adjusting string on rest as they can be rather finicky at times.
Are the timing lines lining up at full draw? What model QAD? The Hunter is notorious for bouncing back up and people think it's not dropping out of the way.
Swing by your dealer and have them take a look. It should be a negligible charge to straighten it out.
At full draw are the lines lining up? If so is it coming up fully the last 1-2" of your draw? You need to check both of these.
Launcher timing should be checked anytime a change is made to your bow. Don't worry how the lines match up. Adjust the timing so the launcher comes to full upright about 1/2" - 3/4" before full draw. And make sure your connection to the down cable is secure. If you can move your serving or clamp fairly easily it will go out of time. Just to note... I have a 2 yr old Hunter model that works flawless. People have a poor regard of this rest but if you time them the way I described above they just work...
I know a lot of guys work on there own rests but I've never had an issue with mine & only let my shop guy work on it. JMHO.
This is why I took my drop away off my bow and replaced it with a whisker Biscuit. I like it simple with the least amount of moving parts and adjustments.
This. My husband has a Mathews Z7. He was ripping fletchings off left and right. Took it to the archery shop, guy thought it was wrong arrows. Still no avail. Took it back to another guy and he fixed the problem. It was the timing, it wasn't dropping quick enough.
I've had three of these HDX rests. Anytime I had them coming fully up the last 1" or so of draw and the lines lined up I have never had to mess with them and I get zero fletching contact. That is why I always recommend that way. I also have a Hunter model on my Assassin and have it set up the same way without issue.
I would put a piece of masking tape on the last 6" of your arrow. Have a buddy mark where the arrow is on the launcher at full draw. Then make lines at 1" & 2" shorter than this. Then draw the bow and adjust the cord to make sure the rest starts to fall at 1" or so from full draw. This should solve your issue.
