This has bugged me for some time now. Not that it is a serious problem for me , but when I used to shoot my fat arrows, the field points would be loose, all the time, and some times now, when I'm shooting the FMJ's. I just don't get it... My question is: Why wouldn't they just start using a reversed thread on the field points? If they (Arrow companies) know that a majority of shooters out there are shooting right helical setups, why not? It makes sense to me! Am I not thinking of something here?
RT helical spins in a way that should tighten them. If you put a little string wax on the threads that may help keep them tight. I just rotate the arrow clockwise when I pull it from the target and that seems to keep the FP's nice and tight.
Tell that to my arrows? IDK. I just figured that the shaft would stop spinning, and the tips would keep going, or soemthing... I just never understood it. lol.
I use blue thread locker on mine. There's nothing more annoying than drawing your bow and hearing a loose FP
First, I used Teflon tape. Then I thought perhaps the weights would not be consistent. Second, I used blue LocTite (low strength). Then I found those fellas were REALLY in there when I tried to change points. Third, I used purple LocTite (small fasteners)…still in there like a bear! Now I use string wax. Consistent weight, they stay tight AND I can get them out. I think I read about using wax on this web-site.
