i really havent done any hunting but i would like to know what is is the diffence in the short fletch or the long one and what would you suggest to use for a first timer like to get in it more often dont want to kill a lot to start but do a lot ao practice
Generally, the bigger the feather/vane (and the more helical)... the more stable the arrow. I use mostly 4" and some 5" feathers on my arrows. When my fall-away rest broke, there was a little shower of feather confetti every time I shot, but even with that much contact, the arrows flew fine. That's how forgiving 5" feathers can be. Some of the small vanes claim to be as good as big vanes but I don't use vanes so I can't tell you if that's true. The small 2" razyr feathers are amazingly good but they cost a good bit more than a plain 4" feather.
