I am going to need a new flashlight this season and I was wondering what kind/style you guys recommend. I have always used head lamps in the past and I think I will continue to do so. In the woods I would like to avoid having a screaming bright light but I would like something that will help me see while getting set up as well as tracking blood trails after dark. What are your recommendations?

Been using a streamlight headlight for years, and they seem to work great. Im sure there are better light fors tracking deer tho.

I try getting military issued stuff all the time but it never really works out. All my lights at work are streamlight so I trust the company and I like their products but would like to see what you guys use.

Rutin, do you find it easy or convenient to still be able to get set up for AM hunts with a handheld. I use a climber so I am concerned about having to get everything squared away on the ground before going up the tree.

Any of the Petzl LED headlamps works well. Last forever on the batteries

I use the green L.E.D. light that clips to the bill of your hat for walking to the stand. Pretty sure you can pick them up at walmart or anywhere really. For tracking i use nothing but a bright LED flashlight. ive tried one of those new blood tracking lights and ended up throwing it in the weeds. Waste of money in my opinion

I have the 10 dollar camo hat with the LED built in for walking to the stand and a back up small cheapo just in case or to help track. My dad gets the clip ons for the bill of your hat for free at work and he throws a couple my way sometimes. :) I'm cheap when it comes to lights..lol.

For easy tracking jobs I use my Petzel headlamp and a surefire G2 flashlight. If it's a troublesome tracking job I go back to the truck and get my coleman white gas lantern with a the light shield. The light created by a lantern makes blood illuminate very well.

I purchased a flashlight from tmart.com this summer that is just outrageous! It was only like $14.99 or $15.99 (can't remember exactly), but it sends out a beam of light that I could easily see across the soybean field behind my house (1/4 mile). The worst part was purchasing the lithium batteries for the flashlight. I can't wait to blind trespassers this year while I am in stand! This will be a great tool to assist with tracking deer. I just could not justify spending sooooooo much on a flashlight....
