Fixed or expandable broadheads? What do you use and why? What are the best broadheads out there specifically? Should you use different broadheads for crossbows rather than compounds?

I've shot the 100 grain Rage 2 blade for since they've been on the market and had great luck with em.But now that I've had to go to a crossbow,I'm probably gonna have to go back to fixed blades.Seems like fixed blades just shoot better out of my crossbow. So I'll probably go back the NAP Thunderheads or maybe give the G5s a shot.

I only used Muzzy's for 22 years and this year I am trying Grim Reapers. I had purchased Rage's and my bow tech said to take them back and get the Grim Reapers, so I did. From the people I know that shoot Rage's and the results they got, I am glad I took them back. However, I have not shot a deer with the Grim Reapers...

Both, when you're tuned to a proper spined arrow, they fly together. ;-)

Any broad head will work great when stuck in the right place !

    Agreed!

Broadhead choice is all personal preference. For me, I prefer the reliability and ruggedness that a fixed blade head provides. However, I have killed deer just as dead with an expandable as well.

I use fixed broadheads. G5 Striker. Why? Not sure, as this is my first season bowhunting in 17 years. However, I'm shooting an older bow, with only 60 pound draw weight. From what I've read on mechanicals, they require a lot of force to get them to open. I'm not going to take the chance a mechanical won't open. I'll go with a broadhead that will definitely work. It's already killed one deer and left enough blood for me to trail the deer, so why change?

All of my family use Rage 3-blade 1000 grain. Even my dad, who hunts with a crossbow. We have had nothing but great luck with them. I haven't had to trail one farther than 50 yrds, and the blood was everywhere. It's a matter of what works best for you with the set-up you have. My little brother and I tried some 4-blade BHs but they didn't seem to stay consistent. These shoot the same as our FPs so we don't change anything. Good luck and God bless :)

i bought a pack of rage 2 blades a couple years ago and shot the biggest buck of my life with it and watched him go down which what is awesome. The one thing i didnt like about them tho was the blades were either bentt or 1 of them broke. The last 2 years i have switched back to a fixed blade broadheads because as broke college kid i cant afford to buy new broadheads after every deer. I now use the G5 montec and i bought a cheap sharpener instead of G5's diamond one and im sure my knock off doesnt work as well it still does a decent job.

In sum, I loved the rage's. Every deer i shot didnt go farther than 60 yrds. However, in my occasion, all 3 of mine were not in shape to shoot them again so thats why i switched back to a fixed blade.

Haha thats what I was thinking lol... Thanks for the help guys! I really want to hunt with a compound but as of now I might have some really serious shoulder problems.. Im 15 so I don't want to f*** my whole physical life up so Im not going to keep shooting a compound when it hurts like heck.. I may have to go to a crossbow so that is why I asked. Really appreciate it!
