I'm sitting here at the Siman's house have a good old fixed blade; mechanical broadhead debate on which is better.

I would just like to get everyone's personal opinion as I favor mechanical.

I Don't care what others use but I will stick to fixed as there is less to go wrong. I never understand it when guys switch to a blade when they say my current heads are great.

I think the siman's set you up and are having their way with you right now. Kind of like when the rookies get hazed in the NFL...

Being a rookie as well... I'll bite. Took my first archery deer with a NAP Spitfire. Worked 100% as advertised. I was gutting the deer 20 minutes after I shot. It was a shot from the ground, less than 10 yards. I got VERY lucky. A HUGE lesson learned. I killed a button and I am quite ashamed of it. I passed on a button earlier. But this time I let my emotions get the best of me.

Anyway, the broadhead worked perfectly. You can see the exit wound just below my knee.

I've never had such mixed emotions before.

Sorry for the hijack... My first post no less...

Freeman...there is no right or wrong...both fixed or mechanical can work great and I have seen good results with both.

2 blade Rage..."It's like throwing an axe through an animal"...works as advertised as far as I'm concerned.

I shot Muzzys for years. Switched to Rage 2 blade last year. 3 deer all have fallen in sight and the most amazing blood trials ever. Granted both the bucks were heart shots they would have bled like crazy anyways but seeing that giant hole it puts in them makes you feel good!

HiTek, nothing to be ashamed of man...be proud of any bow kill! Rage for me has preformed awsome. in 2 yrs I have taken 11 deer with Rage. I did shoot a buck this yr and lost him with Rage, but it was a high shoulder hit and I don't think any head would have penetrated...I love the Rage 2 blade, but I personally believe that you should be pulling over 60 lbs to shoot them.

Haha, same here and same reason! Honestly, "sexiness" of the fixed blade is one of the reasons I use them over mechanicals.

Also- I just like the idea of not having to worry about a broadhead going to open or not when it hits its target.

As far as sexiness...my brothers broadheads that he won at the G2G take the cake...

Performance, ive killed 2 deer with Muzzy Mx-4's, and one with Rage 2 blade.

One Mx-4 was a shoulder shot and went through the first one completely and got embeded in the second, the 2nd was a passt hrough from directly above through the bottom chest.

My Rage 2 blade kill was a double lung pass through.

Im a fan of Rage because they fly like my feild tips, and the cutting diameter.

Freeman, i know you killed your doe with the 3rd Muzzy that came in that pack i bought 4 years ago, and it did a great job. With your setup, stick to fixed blade broadheads.

I prefer fixed blade. You dont have to worry about them opening too soon or not opening at all.

And yes I believe they set you up on this one, but the thread has been tame so far.

I got fixed thunderheads right now I might switch to bloodrunners but I doubt rages their people get annoying lol. The bloodrunners from my knowledge are sure to expand.
