    I think it sucked....

Kidding, good stuff. Tell Todd to not talk so much and use your segment instead.

I could see why they cut it from the show. Not that it is not good info but they have already increased the time of the show from 30 min to 45. Maybe something you could leave just for this thread because it is good info to know. That's one of the most challenging decisions is what spot to hunt and what tree to hang a stand on. Good video on BHOD also. Looking forward to what this year has in store.

I made it out yesterday in the rain to check two of my cams. One on the Outlet Dam (bottom, left of center) and the other one that I placed in the "North Shore" (red X).

    The bad:
The outlet cam has pretty much been a bust this fall. The deer just don't seem to be using the outside of the dam that much. I went in with the idea that if there wasn't much on the cam, I'd move it. One group of does was all that was on it after a couple weeks, so I poked around in the funnel. It's really thick in there, but I think I found a trail where they are crossing about a 1/3 of the way into the funnel.

So I reset the cam in hopes of catching them on this new trail.

Here's where they seem to be cutting through (hole in the brush, just right of center).

    The good:

My camera I set out north of the Snowshoe Trail had a lot of doe action over the last 3.5 weeks. Some night, some day. Enough that I'll be looking to sit there some as the rut closes in.

I'm definitely liking the amount of traffic there. I need to look at the time and dates of the pics and cross reference the weather data to see if there's a pattern. I'm also hopeful of the new Outlet Funnel placement. I should be able to tell in a week or so if that's the trail they're using. I know they cross in there, but with the snaggly mess of trees and brush, it seems that their route has changed.

Hoping to get out early this week for a sit or two. Then I need to get through one more busy weekend at the resort next week, and things should start looking up.

I'm jonesin' for some tree time! :busted:

Looks like Tuesday may be the next I get out. If the wind holds I'm going to make my first move on Buster. As of tonight they are saying WSW winds gradually changing to SSW. I'm hoping to slip into the old Killing Pond and set up on the N edge of the new cut. This is also where I believe that bull moose was the other night.

Hoping to sit at the yellow dot. The blue circle is a 40 yards radius for reference.

I have to say, since I'm getting out less and less, my anticipation for each individual hunt is through the roof :tu:

Fitz, how do you do those drawings on the google earth map pictures you post? Do you screen shot the google earth pic and then put it into paint, or some other program?

Love following along! I am also from Maine and do quite a bit of big woods hunting once the snow hits. It's very cool to see your story unfold!

Yeah, I just do a screen capture and pull it into Photoshop. Some of the land marks and outlines are done right in Google Earth though.

Cold front is moving through now. We were at 86* yesterday, todays high was 54* and tonight it's supposed to get into the upper 20's. Looks like I'll be getting out tomorrow afternoon for sure and possibly Weds. Wind direction has shifted a bit to a NW-WNW direction. I still think I might go to the pond though. Will be a good wind for the direction I'm expecting them to come.

We will get into the mid-20's over the weekend. I'm not sure I'll be able to get out though with a full resort. I'm really looking forward to the last week in Oct. I like the moon phase. If we get some favorable weather, It could make for a great time.

Well, it rained all AM so I was thinking of pushing the hunt off until tomorrow. But it's starting to clear now, so I'm going to head out.

Winds are a bit gusty, up to 20, but they should lay down a bit this evening. Time to shower, pack up and head out.

See you from the tree! :nana:
