Nothing this am. Got down around 8:45. Nothing on the camera there either. Deer seem to be stuck in the Seeking phase. Hopefully the snow on Thursday & Friday will kick things into gear!
South wind turning East in the morning. I'm going to plan to hunt the stand on Evander's Ridge up in the North Shore. I'm jonesin' to check that camera too. Probably sit until midday sometime. Hope to get in there early again. Dad pulled his cards. Hand full of little bucks and a bunch of does. No bucks on does. Just hasn't started yet.
Had something skirt me to the E. Just tried grunting lightly to see if I can drum anything out of it.
OK, This morning's hunt was quiet and slow. My camera there indicates that only 7% of activity happens between 10AM-6PM, so I got down around 11. While I was in the outlet I decided to pull the camera at the dam that I last checked on the 4th. Boy am I glad I did. 18 separate crossings. 10 of them by bucks. 4 by Evander. 3 he was in shooting light. I was guessing that my pics of him were going to be a one time thing, kinda like The Beast, back in '09. Well, he's officially on the hitlist and I think he's quite killable! I haven't been this excited since the last week of Blade's life! The forecast is rain and snow starting tonight. Rain tonight into tomorrow afternoon when it'll switch to snow. Snow tappers by 7 Friday AM. I'm planning to go in crazy early Friday and hang a stand to hunt for the day. Also had picks of that tall 8pt I'm calling Spivey. Another 8 pt basket and a couple smaller bucks rounded out the picks. I'm also happy to know that the shot we heard from the neighbors on Saturday AM wasn't Evander or Spivey. Day pics are dark since I had it facing SE towards the rising sun, but I clearly made him out with a little photoshop enhancement. Here's a few of the originals. It's worth noting that the times are not corrected for DST.
Videos are a pita to go through. Takes me forever. Pics I can filter through quickly. Having said that, I have on on video now. But I'm not getting much there. Might move it to a 10' long scrape I found
I agree they're a bigger pain to look through, but it's nice to see that buck you're after in full motion. Good luck on the scrape!
The snow is starting to accumulate, the winds are picking up a bit. I'm heading to the Outlet in the AM.
Looks to be about 3" of snow. Haven't hunted this outlet in the snow much. Looks beautiful. I'll take a couple pics when there's enough light.
