If I get more excited for your hunts than for my own does that mean I'm doing it wrong??? Good luck getting after it!

Dad shot a buck tonight. Initial impressions are a non-fatal hit. Fat with no blood on the arrow. White hair with no blood on his trail. Tracked about 50 yards on hair and tracks. Last clump of hair had one drop of blood on the end. Pretty sure he hit low on either side of the front leg.

He's going to look some in the AM and we'll probably join after the AM hunt, unless its still raining, then we'll head over at first light.

The buck was chasing a doe though :tu:

Haha I bet it was a nice buck if he took a shot at it.

Wow, his ear is torn up. Neck is swollen. Won't be long before he is a day walker.

    Close to multiple stand sites?

Heck of a year to have multiple bucks on cam wih the tag limit.

    Good luck with them

Didn't you have one a season or two ago that had a big notch in his ear as well? Can't remember if that was you or someone else, just wondered if it could be same buck if so.

No dice in this AMs search for dad's buck. I'm certain he's running around no worse for wear.

We decided to head back up to the ridge behind the lodge. With all these bucks running, I bet someone checks this bedding area.

Great to finally be in the woods with my buddy! He's got my 6:tu:

Pretty quiet day. Had one deer blow mid day way out to our E. Couldn't have winded us, so I'm not sure what her problem was.

On the way out we jumped one on the hiking trail.

We're headed back there in the AM for a quick sit, then mid morning we are heading to the North Shore to set up near my cam that we jumped a back at yesterday and where that giant 8 was.

Winds have switched and now suck for the ridge stand. We're going to wait until 1st light, then sneak up and pull one of the stands so we can head across to the North Shore for the rest of the day.

On the plus side, I can go back to sleep for a bit :busted:

Took us FOR EVER to find a good tree with a view. It's thick up here. Hand a pine marten come through so far. Here's the view.

My 7 o'clock which nick is covering.

Main trail crossings to my 10. Trail cam is back 40 yards left of center behind some pines

    Couple trails at 12 o'clock

And my 3 where two trails merge.

Grabbed the card on our way in. Only one deer, but it was the buck we jumped here Wednesday. 5:30 this AM.

Hard to tell, might have hear a few deer skirt us, but with all the rain lately and the wind this afternoon, it was hard to hear. I wasn't sold on the tree at first, but it grew on me as the day progressed. We'll sit there in the AM for a bit. Nick needs to be on the road by 10, 10:30.

    It's going to come together.

    ... soon.
