Alright. Project is done until Spring. I'll be out tomorrow afternoon and most of Sunday. I'll be using the Heater Body Suit for sure. It was 0 this AM. The lake is 100% skimmed over with ice. I'll check the depth tomorrow, but with single digit lows and highs in the teens, we'll be making good ice Going to set up a stand on the back ridge amidst one of the doe bedding areas that will work for the West wind we have for the next few days. Time to see how the camera holds up to these Ely temps.
Way late, but I'm out. Hung a stand along the ridge behind the lodge (Lone Wolf Ridge). Got to the top of my sticks and found a missing tree strap I like the position of this stand, but there isn't much for cover. I'll sit here tomorrow and possibly shift it midday.
I waited until dark and snuck out. The button never left his bed. Momma and the other fawn we bedded further away from me. Back at it in the AM
I he wasn't so remote I'd say it was a bug trap? They have purple ones here trying to catch invasive slecies (emerald ash borer) to keep track of its progression
It's what remains of an old permanent stand. It was a platform between 3 big aspens with plywood sides. It's long been dilapidated. Here's a shot from 10-21 from the other side when I was in Sara's stand.
Well that's a good start. Just as I step onto the Lone Wolf a deer comes off the ridge right behind the tree. Right before shooting light, so I couldn't see its head. Solo though. The ice is howling like crazy on the lake. I'll have to check its depth tonight or tomorrow.
I think I'm going to do a half day today. I wrenched my back a few days ago working on that project. It's feeling better, but with 9 days in WI coming up, I don't want to push it.
