Alrighty, here's the view to my 10, the end of a dam. My 12. My 2, where I expect the deer to cross (I've killed a couple does here) and that's where the Count is standing in those pics. And the 3 o'clock view out to the lake.
I feel ya Fitz! It's been a slow year for me so far too. Things can change in a hurry though, especially in the next week or so. Good luck man.
I did pull it. Nothing but muskrats and red squirrels... I'm going to be moving that camera to the outlet anyway. I'm thinking with the dropping water level in the middle pond, they may be crossing at the next dam up.
OK, my dad wanted to put out one of his cams today, so we went on a lap to check mine and place his. Ended up moving 3 cams and a stand while we were at it The killing pond is back in action! This is the dam another 80 yards up the inlet (where the Beaver Blind was). If you remember last year, there was tons of sign back there, but then the beavers raised the water level a foot and a half or more and it because the dead sea. It was also hard to get into the blind dues to water. Well, it seems that the opposite happened this late summer, and the water is back down. Really, even lower than before. The whole shore is tore up with deer, moose and wolf tracks. I pulled my buddies LW that I had down stream (Hunting in opener and a few nights ago), and moved it to the N side of the Killing Pond. I also pulled the Stealth Cam from in front of the other location and put it out in the pond. The Larson's stand is still up on the S side too
Now, for tonight, I'm going to take advantage of the SE winds, and sit up behind the Lodge in my wife's stand. It's nice and close since I'm getting a later start, plus I should be able to at least see some does! I'll be back once I'm up in the stand.
Ok, I'm up. I forgot how little covert here is here. Here's the view to my 9 o'clock My 11 My 12, toward the old permanent stand. ...and up the ridge to my 3
Tonight is the last chance I'll have to hunt until next week. My mom is coming up for the weekend tonight, and we have guests checking in to a cabin tomorrow, so I'll need to stick around. Have a nice 5 MPH breeze from the SW, so I'm going to go sit on the killing pond. Rain last night should have freshened up the area after my camera and stand move. I'm going to eat some lunch, jump in the shower and get packed up.
