I'm totally SOL if I shoot something. No other boats in the water. It'd be a good problem to have :tu:

Just put him on a large sheet of ice and tow him across.

    Good luck

I love when the Lone Wolf Canoe goes out. Fishing boats and pontoons are for sissys

I love when an afternoon starts like this!

In all sneaky like. Usually I like it a bit crunchier so I can hear them coming, but I can't hear anything over the creek anyways.

Implementing a new strategy. Going after #2 on hitlist, switching to arrow #2. Makes sense to me?

Pulled the card on the trail walking in. Looks like a little basket on a doe at 1:30 this am. I hope she's still around here.

Short and sweet. Not having much luck here but I think it's just a matter of time. Think I'll start packing up.

Beautiful night out. Already starting to form crystals on the surface of the water.

Well, I'm sitting up in the Tri-pine where blade met his end. Wanted to get in one more sit before I head to Wi. I need to pull this stand anyway.

I'll sit tonight, then pack and check that my .270 is still sighted in tomorrow. Weds morning I'll head south.

I'm going to bring my bow with. Once I hang my stand down there, I'll decide if it's bow friendly or not. I'd like to sit with both incase something comes in close.

This is the most excited I've been to head down there in a couple years.

Anyways, cold and windy right now. Hoping a stranger chases through the area.

There is a light snow cover, so that improves visibility a bit.

Fitz, wondering what you use for a set up. I know an alpha but how many sticks to do you take and about how high does that get you. I use four LW sticks that gets me about 14-18 feet depending on the tree and how flexible I'm feeling on a particular day. You always look like you so far up in your pics. Do you use more sticks or is it just the way the pics look?

Totally depends on the tree, back cover, and topography.

If I'm going in blind, I usually bring 5 sticks. Most often I end up using 4. Like the tree I'm in now, the platform is equal in height to the button on my 4th stick.

My setup I the outlet this year was with one stick. I've been as high as 7 :tu: If I'm that high I'm either on sloping terrain or rifle hunting.

I had something walk through 15 min to dark. Walked to my N in an W-->E direction. As it walked off I tried bleating and a few grunts. Nothing, so I figured what the hell and I grunted and snort-wheezed too. Nothing.

After dark I lowered my bow and climbed down with my pack. Then back up to tear down the stand. Something walked the same path out of view but in the opposite direction. Not sure if it was the same deer walking back to check out the calls or if it was just coincidence.

Oh well. Stand is down and I'm ready to do some laundry and get organized for WI.

Nope. I'm down at the cabin. Got my stand hung and did a bit of scouting. I'll be helping the rest if the guys hang tomorrow and then game on for opener.
