I would have stuck an arrow in him before my brother got there and been all like, "Dude, you missed him and I put him down with a 30 yard shot, IN HIS TRACKS!" Rofl!

Now, it's kind of surreal. I'm not sad that he's dead, and I couldn't be more ecstatic for my brother!

... it's just weird. He's gone. He's not out there waiting to make me look like a fool. He won't be walking in front of my cameras. There are no more pieces of the puzzle to put together. Blade has taught me so much about deer hunting in these big woods. Hell, he's even taught me about myself and my own limitations.

But we must not forget. There is still 49 days 7 hours and 53 seconds left of this season. There are more bucks out there. There always will be. Blade was on top of my hit list for over 555 hours I spent in the field chasing him. I will reassess, regroup, and redeploy all my resources for my new #1... Buster!

I wouldn't want to be the first 115" 8 point to walk under my stand though :busted:

Fitz brother that is awesome! The Blade saga comes to a close and what an awesome way for it to do so, can't imagine how awesome it was to share it all 3 of you together!

I think the way you're taking everything is a real testament to what kind of hunter you are Fitz. I think you give a great name to all bowhunters. Hopefully in June when the G2G is upon us I'll be there and we can talk about Big Woods hunting. There is a lot I need to learn (and could learn from you), however if there is one thing that I've learned is that the Big Woods isn't fair and that it keeps you humble.

Awesome story and I am happy for your bro.....however....but Disney didn't write this tale. It was to be you vs Blade on a late season hunt, on a day you were not going to hunt when all the conditions were wrong. This was you and Blade with a bow....this is all wrong and it is just not right....let's hope you and Buster or Whistler have a happy ending!

I am happy for your bro....but I wanted it to be YOU! I mean no disrespect to anyone ...I just wrote the ending differently ...

This story is " movie" quality! Thanks for taking the time to share your it with all of us. I have learned a lot, and have applied your lessons to my big woods hunting. Now, go get Whistler!

Whistler hasn't shown up yet. I'm not sure he will. If he's still alive, he has stayed out of the area. Of course, after being hit last year I don't blame him!

Yes, I'll be down in WI for the rifle season. Depending on the weather and if I can get to where Buster is or not, I may head down there early. Flirting with the idea of buying another tag... we'll see, I don't know that I want to buy another $160 tag :busted:

I pulled the cards out up there and didn't get anything. My StealthCam didn't have a card in it yet from when I pulled it the otherday and got the last video of him. He could've gone right past that one.

That's hunting I guess. Hell, that's life. We can plan all we want, hope all we want, but there are too many outside variables to have much control. The only thing that we can control is how we react when it doesn't go to plan. In the end I think that is what truly separates the successful from those that are not.

I'm pretty sure he was 6 1/2. I think he was 3 1/2 back in 2010 when we first found him.

I just realized something... This is definately Buster with Blade back in 2010 :nana:

I've been compiling all my photos & videos of Blade for my brother. It's a trip down memory lane :tu:

Have to say congrats first and foremost but also want to say thanks for taking us on the journey with you. For the most part only in the big northwoods will you be able to have that type of extended history with one particular buck. Wish I could check back and see how many times I checked your thread and hit refresh when I though something was happening. You were a bridge letting me vicariously "hunt" through you when I couldn't get in the woods myself.

Again, congrats to you and your family and thanks again for the journey, he was/is a pig!!! Looking forward to the next saga with then next beast in the northwoods.

Here's the other photos of Buster. He has no idea how lucky he has been with my attention focused on Blade.
