Get in there, find your doe, then prop her up with some sticks out about 15 yds from your stand for bait. :)

Well, no dice this AM. We were able to pick up the trail right away this morning despite the snow we got overnight. Followed her another 700-800 yards with good blood until we found another bed from last night. She got out of that bed and browsed her way another 50-60 yards then bedded again, this time with no blood. She got up browsed again where she stood & bedded in the same spot til morning. No blood. Then the tracks headed off. I followed them a bit more until it hit an area with other tracks. With no blood left I called it.

Sucks. I can't believe how damn tough these deer are! she lost a lot of blood over nearly 3/4 mile. I'll be anxious to see if we get here on camera over the next couple weeks.

On a side note, Dad went back to the stand he saw Blade from last night. Found a fresh wolf kill on the way in that wasn't there when he got down yesterday. It's not Blade. Guess we know why the dog was barking last night.

Nick has to take off soon. I'll be heading back up to the ridge. My brother is across the lake but our temps are going to dive tonight, so he'll probably hunt the ridge with me in the AM.

    More to come I'm sure....

I thought for sure she'd be recovered after seeing the trail posted.

    Tough break

Nick just hit the road and I'm back up in the Tri-Pine stand that I saw Blade from. Paul is still across the lake and my dad is sitting in his tripod way to my E.

Now, let's see how this plays out.

Not sure yet I don't think he pulled the cards last night, but I'm sure he will today.

Had a deer blowing from down wind for the last half hour. Then bumped one on my way out. One more hunt in the books.

In and set up for the am. Paul is in the Tri-Pine stand and I'm to his E. Dad was headed to his tripod stand further to our ESE.

Hunting through late morning, then Paul has to head home. Day and I will take the afternoon off to pull his boat and our pontoon. One dock too.

15* right now with a WNW wind 12-15 with 20-25 mph gusts. I'm not upset that it will be a short sit.

    Tonight's low... -2.

    Welcome to winter.

The slug gun claimed a 6 pt about a half hour ago. I'm going to get down in 20, and help the old man get him out.
