OK, is this crazy? I think it might work? The photo is from 2011. The creek in the foreground is now a pond, edge to edge. The deer are traveling across the dam on the far side, closest to the lodge. I want to put a ground blind on the lodge.
I havent been on here at all lately. came on today for one reason...this thread!!! I was praying it wasnt to early! Glad to see you are kicking butt with the cams this year bro! Cant wait to see how the season goes for you!
Thanks Fitz for the introduction! First off I would like to say how excited and appreciative both my dad and I are for an opportunity like this! We can't wait to head on up there and hopefully get some sweet footage and some deer on the ground! To start off, I would like to give everyone a little bio about myself... I am currently 18 years old and headed to the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point this fall. Ever since I was two years old my dad has taken me everywhere hunting. We ended up moving a lot due to my fathers job and ended up living in the Northwoods of WI. We have been here ever since! Along the way I have gained a huge passion for the land and the gifts that lie within it. I have harvested many animals such as bear, deer, grouse, etc. and have always had my dad right there next to me! So that's a little bit about me, and am really excited to get out there and get some killer footage this fall! BHOD!!
My biggest hesitations with the beaver lodge blind are: 1. Access 2. Beavers slapping their tails all day long I think the spot itself is perfect.
I say do it Fitz!! I mean, whats the worst that can happen? The deer would never see it coming. Plus, you can stick a couple of those beavers when you get bored
That is one innovative stand placement idea. Looking forward to these great tactics again this year Fitz. Best of luck closing the book on one of these storied bucks.
I'm planning on seeing what kind of condition my blind is in this afternoon. I know I'll at least have to order some new poles. Some genius decided to leave it out all winter a couple years ago. My buddy Nick let me know that he has one though
Good stuff man. Any legal concerns with hunting on the lodge since you would technically be on the lake? If not I say go for it, I think it would an awesome experience.
I guess I'm not sure. I'll have to look into it. It shouldn't classify as a lake, since it's a wetland that have only recently been dammed up. I'll have to contact my local C.O.
Fitz have you been a guest on bowhunting.com show? Seems like you should have a sopt on there this year to me.
I have not. My photos have been at the end of the show though When Chase and Todd come up, you might catch a glimpse of my ugly mug in there somewhere I'm more interested in showcasing the area. I think it's something different than what you see on most hunting shows.
And if things are slow you have the opportunity to bowfish. Though the furriers would probably frown on a Killzone through a beaver pelt... -Bill
