Well, I've come up with a plan for the next two days before the Larsons boys get here. I want to pull the cards one last time and see how things are shaping up for this weekend.

I'll be able to check most of the cameras tomorrow, purposefully leaving them until the last minute. However, two of my cams are through the Outlet Swamp and are a PITA to get to. They will be todays agenda :tu:

    Here's this afternoon's plans.

    Option 1:
Get through the outlet into the swamp and make my way to the N edge where my furthest camera is, the X. Depending on what sign I find and what's on the cam, I might just set up there of a long afternoon sit. Either way I'm pulling that camera. If I don't get it now, it might be stuck there until this winter when I can snowshoe back there.

    Option 2:
If I don't like what I find, I want to do a quick scout to the Hogback Ridge. This ridge runs E-W on the NE edge of the Outlet Swamp. The width of the ridge (N to S) averages about 30 yards. I walked this a couple winters ago shed hunting and found a ton of sign. Our neighbor also used to hunt this ridge when he was younger and said he saw some of the nicest bucks of his life back there.

If I like what I see, I may hang the LW for the night.

    Option 3:
If the Hogback Ridge doesn't peak my interest, my fall back plan is to paddle back to Fantasy Island and sit there for the night. I also want check the camera I left there. I'm not expecting much traffic there, but if I get a photo of something, I'm guessing it may be a buck.

I'm going to try and head out around noon-ish. That should give me plenty of time if I have to go through all my options. I'll be sure to bring my portable charger for my phone. Between the cooler weather and all the photos I'll be taking, I'll most-likely need to recharge :busted:

FTR, the high is 34* today with winds out of the NW @ 9 mph, with gusts up to 17. It's gonna be cold, but I guess that's expected up here.

Is it sad that I can't wait for simple things like you pulling cards?

It is one thing to enjoy a thread about hunts, but I am so addicted that pulling cards has me on edge!

    Bowhunting....it's a sickness!

I like the plan that sends you the the ridge to the East. I hope that comes together for you! After 2 1/2 hours of football and 3 hours of dance observations tonight....I will be so ready to read every post about the hunt tonight!

Living through Fitz for the next few days! (or always?)

OK, I got sidelined a bit with an important call from a friend. I'm chowing down a quick lunch then I'm out the door.

On the plus side, I scalded my hand pouring hot cider into my thermos :throw:

Good luck tonight, sir! I think the ridge sounds like the best option as well.
