Well, I saw 4 beavers. No deer.

We're headed back in for food and a nap.

Ok, the looming t-storms kept is from heading back across the lake this afternoon. After seeing a good gap in the radar we decided it'd be a good time to hang a stand near the lodge for my wife.

Got that Stan hung by 5:50 and decided to put together a last minute plan. Nick is sitting in the stand we just hung and I grabbed my LW Assault. Found a tree nearby and set up. Not bad for the 1st run & gun hang. Took me 12 min start to finish to get settled it atop 4 sticks.

The view from my tree isn't the best, but it'll do. Now... Where are these does. :ninja:

OK, this is a bit delayed, but we had a late dinner and a house guest, so my update didn't happen as quick as I would have liked.

In the last 15 minutes of light, I had my pins on 3 different deer :tu:

Two does and a really tall velvet fork came in. They were nervous, having caught Nicks wind then moving DW of me. As the first doe stepped out at 25 yards, she got spooky. Then the other two came out at 12 & 7 yards. AS I drew back on the far doe, she stepped behind some brush so I turned to the close one. They caught wind and started to spook, so I blew at them. All 3 stopped within 3 bounds. The close doe was half hidden and I couldn't lean out for a shot cause the fork was looking at me.

They partially busted again, and this time I lost track of who was who. One deer stepped through an opening, but I couldn't make out the head. I drew back but couldn't tell who it was. after letting down, I confirmed it was the little buck.

All 3 ended up working 270* around me and out of site. I decided to leave my LW there and sneak out.

While all this was going on, one or 2 other deer were poking around on the other side of Nick's stand.

All in all, a pretty eventful sit for such a short one.

Winds shift overnight to a NNE. We'll head across to the Killing pond again. This time Nick will take the blind, and I'll be sitting in the N stand.

Then, if the forecast holds, we'll head up for an evening sit on Whistler's ridge.

Monday morning is supposed to get down to 28*! Not sure I'm ready for those temps yet?!?

Time for some sleep! See y'all in the morning :tu:

A bit jealous of those overnight lows, but yeah that's a bit much this early. Good luck out there

Alright, we made much better time today. I'm up in the N stand. Looks like Nick is in the S stand. He was going to try and get to the lodge, but I think the water level is over the top of his boots.

I might need to build a bridge :tu:

Swapped batteries in the canoe and we zipped along.

The beavers are here already, showing their displeasure in out presence.

Well. Not much action today. Headed back to finalize our gameplan for this evening.

    Drizzley windy sit.

What's it like sitting on an angle for long periods of time in the blind? Dang you'd think you'd be moving a lot to keep comfortable. At least being in the blind would hide that I guess! Good luck bud.

The seat isn't angled, just the blind. I think it's probably a bit easier to shoot out of with a bow with the front a little lower.

It ain't perfect, but it works :tu:

Ok, back in after much planning. Wind was questionable for the stand on Whistlers ridge. Wanted to pull the camera's card and check the wind on site, so we headed up there.

Camera died on the day I last pulled the card, but not before taking 5 videos with its dying flash power. The punch line of which was this-

Being that the wind wasn't right we elected to take the tree seats out and home back halfway towards the outlet and set up.

Here's our setup and our lanes:tu:
