Well, got rained on.



Didn't last too long, but it was enough to make me cold.

Thought it was going to come together for a second. Right st last light I had something up by the dam in the grass.

Too dark to make it out. Decided to leave the stand and sneak out.

On my way back across the lake now.

 

Looks like my next chance to get out will be Sunday night. Sara won't be back until Monday, but most of our guests are leaving Sunday AM. Those remaining are regulars. I should still be able to sneak out.

We have a chance of snow forecasted tomorrow & Sun! We need the precip.

Snow in September! Oh yeah!

 

Didn't end up with any snow, but it was 26* this AM. Things are looking good for an evening hunt.

I'm hoping to head out about 3. I want to sneak in and swap out one trail cam for the other. I'm hunting the same spot I did on Thursday.

Here's a map of my plan.
Red dot = stand
Yellow dot = camera
Red lines = beaver dams
Blue lines = my trail, which the deer use
Green lines = known deer trails
White arrow = wind direction tonight

 

Fitz, do they use the beaver dams to cross the creek there?

 

Yeah, they do cross @ the dams. And depending on the water levels, they cross between them. Usually the last part of the creek before the lake is low like in the photo, but this year they built up the last dam, so that whole area is holding water. the middle creek has the least ammount of water, and they cross right through the middle quite a bit. That's what I'm hoping for.

Here's a shot fom the other night. I'm hoping they come right dow in fron of me for a 20 yard shot. The far W dam is at 80 yards. The dam behind me (E) is at 40.

 

Nice thats awesome! I will have to put cams around dams here and see if the same thing happens.

All settled in. Not much on the cam since Monday. Does and a wolf.

The breeze is swirling a bit between WNW and north. I can live with it though.
