I hear you about the Orange, but Muzzleload season ends Sunday at Dark, so I will only wear orange if I try to fill my last doe tag this weekend. I have a few bow only areas and I am the only one in there and could never be seen, so I might skip the orange and bowhunt without it???

More pics Fitz! I love it!

Your guys' crawdads get that big up there? Pincers are small on them, but unless the pics are deceptive they look to be a foot long?

Those two were about 4 1/2" :tu:

Nice sit. the red squirrels were going bonkers around there as usual. Had a pine grosebeak land in a tree near bye. I could hear something coming from the NW at dark, so I boogied out of there as quick as I could. It was too far our to make it before light was gone.

Looks like snow tomorrow night into Sun. Could get a decent amount. Might have to sit out before & after the storm.

Sounds like we we some folks checking in for a couple nights. Hopefully they won't be too needy :tu:

All not including rifle season down in WI.

LOL!! In the first pic I thought I could see the outline of your shadow so thought you were standing back a ways. Now every time I say I seen a 120" buck people will automatically think spike.

Was your dad cam the only one left up there? Know you said you moved one back to where you stuck the doe opening day.

Yeah, both my cams have been pulled from there. His cam should have some shots on the hard drive.

I'm tring to decide what to do with my second cam. I've just had it in front of the lodge. Figured I might as well since that's the last place we saw one of them. I've gotten a couple thousand pics of does and a spiker visiting the trees we have our bird feeder on. They sure love those messy chickadees.

Spent the last two days hanging out with Sara, ice skating, etc. Yesterday was the beginning of a storm, so I decided last minute not to hunt. Turns out, we got about half the snow they said but it wasn't all a loss.

I wanted to put one of my cams in a new area. E of where I've been seeing the big boys. So I did a little impromptu scouting. Basically, I found a good trail that travels along the ridge I had suspected they were using. Sure enough, it was littered with rubs!

I followed this well beaten trail to where all the tracks dispersed, 30 yards before a shooting lane to my neighbor's permanent stand! Too funny!

I then continued to an area I thought they could be using to cross a State 40 to our E. The trails were less defined, but there was still good sign. I finally reached the point that I wanted to turn around. So I headed back but on a route slightly south. 100 yards into my return, and I kicked up one of the boys. Not sure which one, but he was definitely the size and character of Blade & Whistler.

Found his bed and followed his track for a bit, headed right back W towards our stands.

I may move my stand further along that ridge to where the big trail is. I didn't end up putting out the camera, cause I wanted to put it back there also. I figured I'd let him get settled down and not continue to push him.

So, tonight for my hunt, I think I may go move that set and see what happens :tu:

Here's one of the rubs I found...

Pretty cool you are staying on them/him through the late season. You still haven't confirmed Whistler since gun season right? Hopefully they've both made it.

Regardless of what happens the remainder of the season you have learned a crapload about their movement habits from early to late season.

Whistler is the one I saw on the 28th in front of the Lodge. I know he made it through the rifle season, both of them infact. ML season ended lastnight. So no more wearing Orange and no more guns :tu:

Ok, took me way longer to change spots that I thought! I left the lodge about 1:15.

Here's a couple shots from the way in.

It was hard finding a good set up paralleling the trail. I'd find an open enough area, no big trees. Find a good tree, no openings.

I finally found a group of maples to call home. Definitely as low as I've been in awhile. About 14'.

As the crow flies, in probably only 80-100 yards from my last stand, but there's a handful I trails that meet up here. Hoping the move proves wise.

    Here's my 8 o'clock.

As a was typing that last part, something went running by to my N (left).

Hoping for some second rut action, but they very well could have busted my scent from where I walked up the trail.

Cold night for sure. Nothing after hearing that first deer. I like the area. I think Whistler probably walked by this tree before both encounters I had with him. If nothing else, I'm setting myself up for success for next year.

We didn't get much at all. Only 4" or so.

I'm not too bummed though, I'd like to see some more ice before we get dumped on too much :tu:
