    Good luck!

Just curious with seeing all of that snow, has it closed any of your shooting lanes up? Guess it could also work to your favor and open some others up as well.

I'm dressed pretty light right now. UA light weight base layers, and old scent shield top &bottom, Gamehide Helium fleece pullover and Gamehide Gridlock top and bottoms.

If I were sitting all day I'd switch to my bibs and parka.

I'm rocking my liner gloves and a muff as always.

Nothing really closes up on me, but I love the visability!

The shooting lanes always shift with the barometer as the pine boughs rise and fall.

    What's all that white crap???

It's 67* here and supposed to be 70* this weekend.

    I'll probably need my Thermacell.

    Yuck, you can keep it!

Though I think we'll hit 40 this weekend. 1/2" more ice and I can walk across the lake again.

    Pretty quiet night. One squirrel.

Pulled my cams on the way out. Gonna spread them out. My dads is still up there, plus his is the one getting all the pics anyway.

When I was down in the draw I got a huge whiff of deer. I think something may have been between us and S.

Off to have dinner with friends in town. I'll check the cards later.

Temps warmed up for a few days, but they came with 30 mph winds! Most of our snow melted, then we cooled off again. It was 7* this AM.

Anyway, I'm going to sit out tonight. Figured I'd set my LW Elite back up on the edge of that old clearcut to the S (where I got my doe). Two days ago, Sara & I walked over there to see if there was any action. There were a ton of tracks, but they were pretty spread out. Set one of my trail cams up while we were there.

Curious to see if I got anything on it. Winds aren't too bad @ 16 mph. If nothing else, it'll be nice to have the stand in place for future hunts. The ground will be noisy, so at least I should hear them coming.

Updates once I'm out and set up :tu:

    3 1/2 weeks to go!

Pretty gusty, but I think it'll start to die off soon. Still a surprisingly good amount of snow in the cut considering its southern facing.

Doesn't feel too cold yet, but I've been moving the whole time. Only have an hour and a half or so til dark anywho.

Glad I decided to sit tonight!

Good luck, rain all weekend here changing to snow for the return to work. You could get a fair amount early next week.

Are you meat hunting or buck hunting?

    Buck hunting.

Pretty much a bust tonight. If it wasn't for the group of 3 ravens that flew overhead, I would have been skunked. No deer. No squirrels. Not even a chickadee.

The winds didn't die down either. Oh well, at least I got that stand set back up.

Winds shift tomorrow. If I sit out, it'll be back on Whistler's ridge.

Well, conditions are favorable for a hunt tonight. It's a balmy 21 and winds are hovering around the 7 mph mark. Quiet tolerable.

I'm going to head across the bay to the ridges where I've been seeing the big boys. The lake has a good 5-6" of ice now, so I can take the shortcut. Just for fun, here's a winter shot...

The sun has even peeked through the clouds a bit today. The first time in days. I hope it can sneak up there without bumping something out of a bed.

As always, I'll be updating from the stand. Gotta hit the shower now!

Not quite as soothing as the canoe ride, but peaceful it its own way.

I stopped to pull Dad's card on the way in, and no card. Not sure if he pulled it lately, or if its been empty since we hunted here last week.

    Bummed for sure.

Woods are super noisy with the ice covered snow. I should hear them coming for miles.

I can hear the lake howling with waves as its expanding ice cracks.

Even with the crosswind I can hear the neighbor a mile away chain sawing.

It's going to be a nice sit :tu:

Good luck up there, hope they're still running the tops. Trail cam showed the young ones are starting to move a bit again, wondering if some secondary rutting starting up down here.

    Are those fresh water lobster?
