Temps will be in the single digits the next few nights. Got to -2 Saturday morning! I'll try and get a few sits in this week.

I'll also be finishing up my stove project. Finally got the parts in that I ordered. Need to pick one thing up in town tomorrow and then I should be good to go for finishing it up. Hoping to have the first fire going my mid-afternoon :tu:

I have a lot to unpack and organize. Also need to do a ton of laudry bofore I can sit out.

Season Ends 4 weeks from tomorrow night. Plenty of time to still get it done!

    Oh!!!! I forgot to add....

My brother got a bunch of photos of Buster when he was up for rifle season. Even had him under his stand after dark one night. Haven't gotten a pic of him since velvet, but good to know he's still hanging out across the lake. This makes 3 awesome 10 pointers :nana:

Can't see it in this photo, but in others you can see his torn left ear.

Well, here's a good one for you!

My doe from the WI rifle season has been thawing in my dad's heated garage for the last two days. So I went over there to skin & debone her. After that I brought everything back to the lodge to trim, cut & package. 4:00 and I hear Sara in the lodge say, "Mike, there's a HUGE buck!"

I set my knife down and step into the lodge, not sure what to expect. Sure as ****, it's Whistler!

Deja vu set's in as I run to the back of the lodge, grab my bow, knock an arrow, and head out the side door. My truck is parked perfectly so that I could use it as cover until I cleared the corner of the lodge for a shot.

Too bad the snow was too crunchy on the side deck, he turned and bolted before I could get into postition. I circled back to the other side of the lodge and saw him headed up to our back hill.

I didn't get to see his left side where I hit him, but he sure looked healthy. Now I'm waiting to stop shaking so I can finish butchering my deer....

In case you need a refresher of why I was having deja vu, here's the story of Count Chocula --> http://forums.bowhunting.com/showth...ill-make-the-wall&highlight=chocula+make+wall

    What a trip.

Wow thats exciting. the only thing to make it better is if you would have got a shot on him. But its good to know he is alive and well. Hopefully he steps out in front of you sometime soon again. :tu:

What are the odds had you been successful?

Looks like you're starting to learn their late season routines. Any way to use the snow to your advantage and see where he went and/or came from? Wouldn't that be something if one or both of them were bedding within a few hundred yards of your lodge.

So how far is your lodge from where you first discovered him on trail cam?

This story is full of twists and turns, love it!

He was walking towards one of our bird feeders, the deer like to clean up what the chickadees drop.

Wouldn't be the first time :tu:

Complete opposite side of the lake from the first picks of Blade, 2 miles as the crow flies. walking, about 3 or 3 1/2 miles. It's only about 1/4 mile from the ridge I've been hunting them and getting picks as of late.

I'm one of the seasonal posters, but definitely remember the count chocula success thread. Didn't realize until this year who it was but remembered it all the same.

Just thought it was cool as heck Blade used to cut you off Oct. 22 and now you have him and another throughout the late season. Close the deal, we're all pulling for you.

Ok, I'm back up in the stand I hit Whistler from. The ol' man is in his ladder with the smoke pole. The view has change since I last sat here.

    Pics to follow...
