Can someone tell me the difference between wolves and coyote behavior? In Central, IL I would never want to leave a deer over night, the coyotes will almost always gut your deer.

In yesterday's reading on this thread, I thought I came across this info? So a coyote will eat a dead deer, but a wolf will not if they didn't kill it?

Is this true or am I way off. I don't know, just asking.

I was in the same spot that Fitz is in right now, one year ago this weekend. I think I hit high, not low. Found the arrow broke off about 6-8 inches up from the broadhead. I had blood, but lots it. I think I bumped the animal. Fitz is doing a much better job than I did.

I am pulling for ya, go find this animal Fitz!

Ok, nothing good so far. No better sign in today's sunlight. Did a few more circles at last sign with nothing. Decided to head W to the outlet so I could walk the creek shore N then E back toward the stand invade he went to water. Have jumped 5 or 6 deer. 4 were confirmed does, non had blood in their beds.

After my shore search I'll cross cross my way back to the stand and look one more time there. The area is much thicker than I had thought.

Rsf, wolves will eat dead deer even road kill. Their population density isn't as high as many areas with yotes.

Even if today turns up nothing, I'll be listening for eagles ravens and wolves and investigating anything close.

Thanks for the reply and the info...I was thinking that they would not. But why not eat a free meal?

I guess at this point...just finding the animal is what is important!

They've been cruising and chasing pretty good since before Halloween. I'd say there's a mix going on with some breeding.

Sorry Fitz, I've been there on a target buck myself. I even quit sitting in that particular stand for a long time afterwards. Sucks!

Well, I'm offically calling it. I have become increasingly convinced that it was a shallow shoulder hit, and that he's still walking around. We'll be watching the camera's closely for sure.

I haven't had a chance at a good buck since '09. Now I've had 2 shots, and both were blown. Still not sure which one it was, I didn't have the time to decipher this go round. Another reason I'm anxious to get him on camera.

Not sitting out today and will have to think about tomorrow. Saturday looks like rain all day, so Sunday may be the next time I sit out.
