Wolves aren't going to be an issue unless they took that buck down and are actively feeding on it and maybe get a little territorial/protective of 'thier kill'. I've had wolves watch me gut a couple deer and they in no way were threatening me...also tracked a couple deer in the middle of the night with wolves around and it's spooky but they never came very close in the end - Get Him First Fitz!
Alright. Update. We were able to find one more clump of hair, but that's it. Pretty much only following tracks, but as soon as he slowed there was nothing to go on. Followed all the bigger trails and combed over any of the remaining clumps of snow. Here's a close up of the known trail, not too far... And here's a larger view. The areas in yellow we scoured pretty well. tomorrow I'm headed back to walk the red line to the north and listen for ravens. We took the boat out along the shore of the lake to see is he had gone there. I'll do the same tomorrow. Clarification on the hair. It was white at the base but brown or grey at the tips. Here's a photo of the arrow. Bright red blood, no bubbles, some flesh. The blood stops at my thumb.
Crap I'm sorry to hear that Fitz Looks like it hit hard shoulder Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk 2
Damn.. Sorry to hear Fitz.. I know that probably doesn't help but we're all behind you. I know you will expire every bit of energy you can. Keep your head up bud!! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
I'm gonna wait til morning. It was nearly immpossible to track him in the daylight, night would be futile. This blows....
Good luck Fitz. Tracking is going to be a challenge with no blood. I have used Hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle to check leaves to see if they had blood on them one the trail went dead. Hope you find him.
